Auckland Council set itself up to focus on the “housing crisis” it faces. Morrison Low has provided assistance over the past six years on a range of areas, including:
- The development of a comprehensive housing action plan that identified a range of initiatives across the housing spectrum. Morrison Low assisted in implementing a number of these actions which are seen as best practice including Housing Bonds, Inclusionary Zoning, WOF schemes, Cost of Growth assessment and Place Management design and modelling.
- Assistance with the establishment of the Housing Project Office, a division with Council that was tasked to focus on housing delivery. Key outcomes were the provision of a more coordinated approach, working more closely with the development sector, aligning infrastructure requirements, streamlining Councils internal processes to deliver housing in a faster, more efficient manner.
- The identification and establishment of Special Housing areas
- Working with Council’s development CCO, Panuku Development Auckland, to identify potential developments and partnership arrangements
