Auckland Council's Parks Sports and Recreation Department (now known as the Community Services and Facility Units)
Auckland Council's Parks Sports and Recreation Department (now known as the Community Services and Facility Units) commissioned Morrison Low to assist with identifying significant savings in the proposed ten year renewal budgets for the regional and local sports parks activities, as part of the 2015 Long Term Plan process.
The challenge was to identify immediate saving opportunities in the parks asset renewal budgets while also giving consideration for longer term opportunities and improvements.
Morrison Low’s asset management and strategic specialists identified a range of opportunities at a strategic level to optimise the parks renewal programme while preserving the existing service levels. A renewal framework was developed to guide the prioritisation and management of asset renewals in conjunction with Auckland Council parks managers to ensure a consistent regional approach.
